So I guess the big lingering question is going to be how does baseball, and specifically the Hall of Fame, handle this era? Do we pretend like the era never happened and never vote these guys in? Do we acknowledge the shady stuff that was happening and let all of them in? It is really tricky, but it makes some of the other players in history seem like better people. Pete Rose anyone?

I think that the human mind is a strange thing and that McGwire may believe that the PEDs he took, were not really performance enhancers to him. He has convinced himself of this. I guess when you are such a special person that god gives you such fantastic gifts that he doesn't give everyone else, the rules don't apply to you.
What I don't understand is when MLB is going to get it's collective head out of the sand. I guess only long enough for the next steroid user to come forward. The Selig can state again that the problem has been solved.

Thanks for the taut analysis of how the 'roids did change Mac's strength and how he used them when, by his own admission, he was not hurt. What a huge liar, who still refuses to believe that he did anything wrong against the game.
